The Eastern Concert Band recently competed at the District 17 OMEA Large Group Contest for the first time in more than two decades and earned a Rating of II – “Excellent,” the second-highest honor an ensemble can receive.
Students spent the last three months preparing three pieces for the contest, working through snow days, illnesses, and shortened school days. Even more impressive, 42% of the ensemble is made up of 7th and 8th grade students, making this accomplishment even more significant.
Congratulations to our outstanding student musicians for their dedication, leadership, and hard work. Thank you as well to our Eastern Local staff, administration, and supportive parents who continue to encourage and support the music program.
Looking ahead, Eastern will participate in the Second Annual Big Bend Band Concert on Saturday, March 28, joining students from Meigs, Southern, and Wahama for a combined performance. The concert is currently planned for 5:00 PM at Southern High School, with more details to come.
Congratulations again to our band members on this tremendous accomplishment!
