Building Bridges to Future Careers!

Eastern Elementary fifth- and sixth-grade students recently explored careers in construction and engineering through an engaging, hands-on activity led by Ms. Amy Robinson from the Athens-Meigs ESC in partnership with Tri-County Career Center.

Students were presented with a real-world challenge: a bridge near a school had washed away, and a replacement bridge needed to be built quickly to help students get home safely. Working with a limited set of supplies, students put their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to the test as they designed and built their own replacement bridges!

Throughout the activity, Ms. Robinson introduced students to a variety of careers in construction and engineering, helping them explore their interests and discover new possibilities for their futures.

At Eastern, we want every Eagle to find their E - Employed, Enlisted, or Enrolled! Experiences like this help students explore the Employment pathway by introducing them to career opportunities, developing important workplace skills, and encouraging them to think about how their interests and talents could lead to a future career.

Happy, Healthy, and Eagle Strong!

Finding Their E: Exploring Enrollment Opportunities!

Eastern High School students recently visited the University of Rio Grande College Fair to explore opportunities for life after graduation! Students had the chance to connect with college representatives, learn about different programs of study, and discover the many paths available to them after high school.

As part of our Finding Your E initiative, we encourage every Eastern Eagle to explore their future and find the path that best fits their goals and interests. For many students, that means Enrollment—discovering colleges, career programs, and educational opportunities that will help them take the next step toward their dreams.

Final sign-ups are Monday, October 26, from 5–7 PM at the Archery Building. Open to grades 4–12, with no experience or equipment purchase needed. Thank you to The Burrow Foundation and to Coach Burrow and Mrs. Burrow for coming to talk with our students today. Our students learned about some healthy habits to have for a healthy body and a healthy mind. The Burrows shared some of Joe's favorite foods to eat with our students. Your children have a bag they will bring home today with these food items. Some of these are fresh fruits and vegetables.
