School Lunch Menu has been revised and updated on the District Cafeteria Page and in the Dining Page on the Eastern Local Ap.

Football will now play this week on Saturday 9/14 at Shelby Valley High School in Pikeville, KY. Kickoff will be at 7:00pm.

Mr. Frey our outstanding band director asked me to share that
parents of students interested in joining 5th grade band should email Mr. Frey at hfrey@easternlocal.net
If you haven't seen Mr. Frey and his outstanding band in action come to the football game Friday and watch the halftime show. The show is outstanding and would make anyone want to grab an instrument.

I recently had a couple of parents reach out to me about concerns at drop off and wanted to talk through them. I first wanted to say we as a team have met with and planned with multiple officials from the department of transportation, and transportation specialists from the state, as well as had multiple meetings with our team to look at possible strategies to make drop off faster, safer, and more efficient over the years and we continue to look at it and make adjustments even yesterday. Also understand we always want to prioritize safety. I had a parent say they were afraid their student would be tardy so they dropped them off in the middle lane to cross traffic. If traffic happens to be backed up we can remove tardies. Please take the extra time to be safe. Please understand too that with the start of school, those first couple weeks we have new families dropping off who don’t know the procedures yet. Please give them some grace as we try to help them learn the process. Some things that families dropping off can do to help:
If you are dropping off in front of the elementary school please pull all the way forward to the yellow sign, or as far up as you can before you let your student out. This helps from keeping traffic backed up into route 7 which helps speed everything up.
Parking and walking your student across traffic can slow everything down and is not as safe as dropping them off next to the sidewalk. Please do not drop off in the middle lane.
As you exit from the High School Parking lot please use two lanes to exit. The lane on the right should be going North towards Tuppers Plains and the left lane should be for going South towards Chester.
Families dropping off for preschool should not be on campus until after 7:45.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. Know that as a team this is something we have worked on the last few years and we are always looking for ways to improve. I will say that the fact that as a community we get close to 750 students in the buildings safely, with our limited space ,off of a busy highway during the morning commute consistently in less then 15 minutes is a testament to our staff and families and even the commuters on Route 7 who do all they can for our students.
Thank you, and if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk please reach out.

Welcome back our ELS students, family, and staff!
I want to remind everyone of the drop-off routing for our campus as well as keep everyone up to date on some safety related
subjects that will be important for the 24-25 school year. Parents dropping off their students, please note the attached map .
The K-3, K-6, and 7-12 drop off zones are the same as last year with K-3 directly out front of the lobby doors, 4-6 behind the
High School Building into the 4-6 entrance, and 7-12 located toward the front of the High School adjacent to the Student Parking
Lot. All students dropped off will enter their assigned buildings through their designated doors only.
Reminder: Please keep the bus parking area clear at all times during morning pick up to allow for smooth safe flow of traffic
at all times. Also remember that all buses have right of way at ALL TIMES while on campus. This is to allow them to quickly and safely
leave campus to allow for a smoother flow of traffic.
Note: Teacher parking is located behind the high school there is to be no parent parking beyond the weight room.
The Student Parking Lot is also closed to any non-school students between the hours of 7 to 3. Students must be registered for a
designated spot and follow all school rules and guidelines pertaining to student driving.
Here at Easter Local, I make the safety of our students, staff, and parents my top priority. I look forward to seeing everyone
and thank you all for your cooperation in helping to continue to keep Eastern safe.
Thank you.
-Deputy Joe Barnhart
