The Senior Careers class welcomed Brandi Koscho and Carrie Ramage from Educational Talent Search to provide a fun, learning activity to help them plan and prepare for the future. We are so thankful to have this great program as a resource for our students!

There will be a mandatory meeting on December 5 at 5pm in the high school cafeteria for parents whose child plans to go on the 8th grade trip to Washington DC.

The Junior class LAUNDRY SOAP fundraiser is 13 units short from being able to place the order. The company requires 100 minimum units to place an order, and even more to get free shipping. We are asking our community to please find a Junior class member or come to the High School office and place your order, so they can complete the ordering process. Thank you for always supporting our EAGLES!

EASTERN ALUMNI AND FRIENDS ENDOWMENT FUND OPEN FOR DONATIONS
This is one that can help Eastern kids now and forever. There are matching funds from the state right now for all donations up to $5,000, but those funds won’t last for long. If you get a chance to do ongoing donations, you’ll be helping current students and Eastern students for years to come. There is a link in the upper right hand corner of the website. Please look this over and share and spread the word.

Mr Fogle and our K-4 students have our halls celebrating fall! Awesome work!

Yesterday a message was sent out about lunch charges. The message was sent by staff members who were following the procedures the school had followed a few years ago prior to the pandemic. The last couple of years during the pandemic the government made lunches free for all students and lunch charges were not an issue. This year that program has gone away and Eastern Local does not have enough students who qualify for free lunch in order for us to be eligible for free lunch for all students, so any students who do not qualify for free lunches must pay. We currently allow students to charge multiple lunches and pay for those lunches from an account that receives donations. That fund received multiple donations this year and those funds have been depleted because of so many charges from students who do not qualify for free lunches, but many times forget to bring money. This is most common with our older students.
We are exploring other options at this time to figure out how to best take care of our students and not run our lunch service account further in debt and take funds from other programs to support it. The National School Lunch and Breakfast program that we utilize does not allow us to accumulate debt.
I have had multiple people reach out to ask if there is a fund for these charges and if they can donate. There is a fund and you can donate by writing a check to “Eastern Local School District” with the memo: community lunch donations, or contacting Brian Collins our food service coordinator ( 740-985-3304 bcollins@easternlocal.net ) to help in other ways.
Thank you to all those who reached out to me about the situation. We always appreciate how so many in our community look at a tough situation and want to help, that is what makes me so proud to be a part of this community.
Thank you,
Nick Dettwiller

Hello. Thank you to everyone who participated in the cheese and summer sausage fundraiser. Items ordered will be passed out as soon as we receive them. We are starting our next fundraiser this week. It is the laundry soap and other cleaning items. Our school has done this fundraiser in the past and it has proved to be very successful. Fundraiser information and order forms are being passed out this week. Your Junior may have already received the forms today. If not, they can get the forms from Mrs. Buckley in the high school. This will run through November 21. All orders and money will be due on that day. Money raised through these fundraisers is what pays for this year's prom.
