Dear Eastern Families,
As we head into another week of school, I’d like to touch base and highlight a few important items:
Communication System
Our new communication system is up and running through the Eastern Local App. This will be the primary way we share updates and information. If you experience any issues, please click the link below or reach out to us directly:

Parent Night – Tuesday, September 2nd
Eastern Local Schools will host Parent Night on Tuesday, September 2nd, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. for grades 3–12.
Grades 3–6: Two sessions will be held (5:00 and 6:00). Please plan to attend one session for your children. Teachers will share key information about this school year.
Grades 7–12: Drop into your child’s classrooms anytime between 5:00–7:00 to meet teachers and learn about class expectations and resources.
We look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you may have!
Morning Drop-Off Reminders
Thank you for your patience as we adjust to the new drop-off system. It has already been moving faster than in previous years, but safety remains our top priority. A few reminders:
Pull forward as far as possible along the sidewalk in your drop off zone before dropping off. This keeps traffic flowing.
Use the left entrance if you are not dropping off a K–3 student — it helps bypass congestion.
Practice “zipper merging” — let every other car turn left/right into the lot.
Use both exit lanes — right lane to turn right, left lane to turn left. Get in these lanes as quickly as possible.
Preschool drop-off begins at 7:45. Please do not enter the lot earlier to help reduce congestion.
Finally, please remember: while it can be frustrating to wait, we want to put safety first. The lot is usually clear before 7:30, and is clear again after 7:45, which means over 700 students arrive on campus in about 15 minutes — a pretty efficient system given our location off of a busy highway during rush hour.
Looking ahead, our renovation levy in November does include improvements to traffic flow and drop-off areas. Until then with the limited infrastructure we have, I encourage families to allow extra time and continue being patient with one another.
If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Stronger Together,
Nick Dettwiller

3rd-6th grade will host two sessions. One at 5:00 and the second one at 6:00. Please plan on attending one of the two sessions for your children. These sessions will be hosted by the teachers and they will share information about everything you need to know about this year.
7th-12th grade will be in hosted in the individual teachers' classrooms. Please feel free to drop in the teachers' classrooms for information and resources about each class and what you need to know for this year.
