The Eastern High School Student Council and the American Red Cross will be sponsoring a blood drive on Thursday, February 8th from 8:00 to 1:30 in the high school gymnasium. All donors will receive a $20 gift card to Amazon from the Red Cross and free ice cream from the Student Council for donating! Again, there will be a blood drive on Thursday, February 8th from 8:00 until 1:30 in the high school gymnasium. The more donors we have, the more scholarships we can offer to our senior students. Three scholarships have been added over the last week including the Nadine Goebel Nursing/Hocking Scholarship, The Community Action Scholarship, and the Pepsi/Eastern Local Future Educator Scholarship. Thank you to Toyota Buffalo representatives for speaking to Eastern Junior and Senior students about the Kanawha Valley FAME Program AMT opportunity where selected applicants can earn an associates degree that is likely free while earning solid wages and gaining core skills leading to permanent gainful local employment. Remember, the deadline to apply is February 11th and the documents with the link to the application page have been emailed to all Eastern Seniors. Students are certainly working hard to find their "E" at Eastern Jr./Sr. High School!

Attention Eastern Seniors: The Nadine Goebel Nursing/ Hocking College Scholarship is available for graduating students wishing to earn a nursing degree from Hocking College. This form is also available under the scholarship tab on the Eastern Jr./Sr. High School Guidance Page!

Last week, several Eastern Jr./Sr. High School students and staff members participated in the Sources of Strength program training. Sources of Strength is a best practice youth mental health promotion and suicide prevention program designed to harness the power of peer social networks to create healthy norms and culture, ultimately preventing suicide, violence, bullying, and substance misuse. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent adverse outcomes by increasing wellbeing, help-seeking, resiliency, healthy coping, and belonging. Thank you to the students and staff who participated in the training.

The Eastern Local Food Service Program reminds you to access your student's account and address any negative balances. Also, please ensure your student has sufficient funds in place for daily meals and snacks. If you would like to donate to the Eastern Food Service Program to assist with negative lunch balances, please contact Brian Collins at 740-985-3304. Thursday, at 9:30AM Toyota Buffalo representatives will be at Eastern Jr./Sr. High School to provide seniors and other upperclassmen with the AMT program presentation. This is an amazing opportunity for graduating students to enter the workforce while developing skills in manufacturing, job training, and gainful local employment. Application deadlines to enter the program are February 11th. Links to the application are in the attached images and a PDF version of the document has been emailed to the senior class. Students off campus who are interested are highly encouraged to be in the gym at this time. Schedule Updates: Tonight's Junior High Boys Basketball games start at 5:00pm. Thursday's Junior High Girls Basketball game will be played in the high school gym beginning at 6:00pm prior to the Varsity game. Senior night recognition will take place between games. The Junior High Boys have added a home game against Meigs on Wednesday 2/7 beginning at 6:00pm.

It was a busy weekend at Eastern Jr./Sr. High School's Eagle Nest this past Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Eastern High School recognized our Varsity Football Team for their conference victory and deep playoff run in the 2023 season in between the Varsity and JV games. We also held the Coaches Against Cancer event that evening with tremendous community support. Additionally, a big shout out to Home National Bank for your sponsorship of this game allowing free entry to fans of both Trimble and Eastern and the Dash for Cash Event. Finally, on Saturday, Eastern's Varsity Boys Basketball Team came away with a solid 54-46 victory over Portsmouth Clay. Congratulations to all the students recognized and involved in both evenings activities.

Tonight's Boys Basketball games will be sponsored by Home National Bank. Admission will be free for all in attendance. We will also be recognizing the Football program for their outstanding 2023 season.

Any 7th or 8th grade boy who would like to sign up for jr high baseball please go to the high school office to sign up. The last day to sign up will be Friday, January 26.

Tonight the Eastern Jr. High and High school wrestling teams will wrestle both Meigs and Wahama at Meigs high school starting at 6:30. This is a great opportunity to watch all three local programs and show support for your Eagles.
